The Pipeline

A “volunteer pipeline” across the globe.

The pipeline is a partnership of people and organizations whose code of ethics and social practices guide them to make a voluntary contribution of resources toward the betterment of humanity. It delivers free recycled shoes to those areas of the world where there is great human suffering due to extreme poverty. The initial pipeline carries recycled sandals from America to East Africa.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1:

Donated sandals are collected, warehoused, sanitized, and packaged for transoceanic shipment.

Step 2:

Sandals are shipped in sealed cargo containers from America to ports in East Africa. Each cargo container holds approximately 25,000 pairs of sandals.

Step 3:

Cargo Containers are off-loaded at the ports and trucked inland to distribution centers in various countries.

Step 4:

A local authority, such as a hospital, school or church, receives the cargo containers. The sandals are unloaded, counted and prepared for distribution. A distribution team of local volunteers then goes into action to fairly and equitable distribute each pair of sandals. The bulk of the sandals are distributed to impoverished families, street orphans, refugees, natural disaster victims, and hospitals.

Step 5:

The remainder of the sandals travels further inland by various means and routes to needy barefoot families in remote villages.
